Bar-headed Goose, Gadag, Karnataka, INDIA

Winter is coming! And it will bring with it, the Bar-headed Geese, the Spartans of the avian world, who will fly across impossible odds to get here, crossing the world’s highest mountain peaks in uninterrupted flights of up to seventeen hours, and performing the steepest ascending climbs, on their return leg.  And they do this every year, because Karnataka, with its warm hospitality and  gourmet cuisine, lures them back.
